Mission Accomplished

Posted in Labels: , ,

I've been off the radar for a few months working over at Prologue. The final mission, as we accepted was Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol! I have to say the amount of time we had was intense, you could find me mumbling that it was truly, "The Impossible Mission".

Here is the trailer:

With a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes...

I finally had the guts to go watch it. Surprisingly I liked the movie and it was super enjoyable! I held my breath watching the titles though, it was a huge blur. I was so nervous. However, there is nothing better than to see your work up on the big screen with a full audience. The team I worked with was incredible, and now that the madness is over, I miss them all very much. It was rough, but we had some good times!

Go watch it! Lots of A113 Easter Eggs to be found too!

Just Keep Swimmin!

Posted in Labels: , , , , , ,

Almost done! I'm slightly sleep deprived and kooky but... here are my little fish! Raul had pointed out that they should be called: "Floatsam and Jetsam", which is super clever! Anyway, in two weeks I hope to put some water-like distortion that trails behind them and give them a bit more compositing love.

Annnnnnd... WIP Demo Reel time! I'm still working on a breakdown:

Like Dori says... "Just Keep Swimmin'"

Good luck everyone!

Wooden Lamp

Super quick (aka less than half a day) assignment for Chris.
In reference to a lamp by Hix-Edition, a French lamp company.

^ Final. Modeled in Maya, painted textures in photoshop
and comped in After Effects.

^ Wireframe (not like there is much to show anyway lol)
I quite like it!

By the way, I started a food blog: Afoodcionado!
All I want to do is just write reviews and edit my photos now.

A quick lighting/texturing assignment. The Fusic phone model is courtesy of Chris Eckardt.

^ I think it needs a little more glow.

Feiz Samsung P100 Camcorder

I got terribly sick this week... I have no idea how I managed to get this done. Modeled in NURBS, textured and lit in Maya. Comped in Photoshop.

^ How my meds are making me feeeeeel...
I think next year, I'll have to get a flu shot, even though I hate needles.

Hope everyone is keeping well!

Paper Plants

Posted in Labels: , , , , , ,

You'd think paper was going to be an easy fight for texturing... A quick indirect lighting exercise. I decided to do something fun, and colorful, because I've been lacking some color in my work, so here are some paper plants. At least these won't die on you! Modeling, texturing and lighting done in Maya. Comped in AE.

I found a couple of beautiful and inspiring videos, make sure to check them out:

Beautifully done by Superfad, with one of my favorite designers mentioned within it: Stefan Sagmeister.

Wow... I'm starting to feel the pressure of Senior Show. Crazy.

Last Time Back!

Posted in Labels: , , , , ,

The last season of Otis. I cannot wait to get out of here! Anyway... I'm sure it hasn't hit me yet that it's technically my last time back at Otis.

To start off, I thought I'd enjoy my last weekend of the semester. I ended up having to pay the horrible price of an all-nighter, but nonetheless got a little quicker at modeling and lighting. Here are a few Chris Eckardt assignments, the first one more so modeling and the second one lighting.

^ Quick model with reference below.
I actually like this piece and I think it'll look pretty interesting textured.

Boy was the model Chris gave us... super scary. I did what I could though.

^ like I said, kinda creepy.
I did learn more about portal lights though.

Anyway, I miss home and this is a really cool Tilt Shift video:

End of the Semester Work!

Posted in Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

With the usual end of the semester craming... here's some work I finished up for my finals, as well as one of my WIP thesis projects, Critter Mischief: Food Fight!

Here's a still image:
^ Modeled, textured and lit in Maya.
Textures made in Photoshop and Zbrush, with slap comp done in After Effects

^My Adidas Robot Final.
I'm actually considering re-rendering, cleaning up the animation and giving it a bit more comp work over the break. I had a lot of fun with this, so I think it can get a bit more love. Modeled, textured, rigged and lit in Maya. Shoe model was a courtesy of Chris Eckardt. Comp work done in After Effects.

^Quick slap comp for the start of my second Thesis project!
Maya and After Effects.

^Close Up

It's been an interesting year so far! From the greatest adventures and people from over the summer, to figuring out my Thesis... I really cannot wait until next year! Hope you guys have a wonderful holiday! I'll be posting my new Demo Reel shortly, with a few more revised pieces!

Here's an amazingly executed piece by Piteren. Pretty sick! So check it out:

Industry reviews next week! Excited and nervous as well. Since I haven't posted since last month, here are a few pieces I've been working on... all of which are still WIPs. After next week, I'll have so much to post, including parts of my thesis... and like tradition will have so much stuff you can scroll down through. Wish me luck!

^ Evian Redesign WIP:
Modeling, lighting and texturing done in Maya. Quick comp done in After Effects.

^ Robot Adidas Project WIP:
Modeled, lit and textured, rigged in Maya. Quick comp in After Effects.
Still animating it!

Time to say goodbye to my bed until next Wednesday!

NES!

Posted in Labels: , , , , , , ,

Of course I modeled an NES for my Advanced Concepting class! At any rate, I'm going to come back to this later to make the shaders more believable as well as the textures. The game cartridges are of Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong. I wish I had an NES.

I'll post wireframes later! Made in Maya and comped in AE.
I actually enjoyed this alot, so it's safe to say it is definately a WIP.
Hope you enjoyed this post!

Georgia Power and the 36 Hour Review!

Posted in Labels: , , , , , , , ,

^ Most of the crew!

Check it out! Georgia Power: Shed Some Light

Make sure to check out all the Behind the Scene and breakdown on the site! It was really exciting and awesome to be working on this project with everyone... it was so much fun, even when school and Georgia Power started to merge. It all turned out really great. So check it out either on Three Legged Legs or on Cartoon Brew!

Now onwards to my WIP from Thesis, courtesy from my 36 Hour Review. Everyone had some awesome work so far, I'm pretty stoked to see what people had done:

^ Original character sketches!

^ 3D Models so far...
I need to sculpt them a little more, then UV them and bring them into Zbrush
(so I can finally learn how to actually use that program!)

^ Wireframe

^ Shader test... I'm getting there.

That's all folks! I'll have more to post later.
Keep warm or cool... LA's weather has been pretty wack so far. Don't get sick!

Chrysler Sebring!

Posted in Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Another car lighting assignment. I figured out what was wrong with my aliasing from last time. It was a definite facepalm moment--just saving on half from AE to Photoshop. At any rate, Chris supplied us with the Chrysler Sebring model. This was done in Maya, comped in AE, and final touches/background where done in Photoshop.

The model was pretty intense, I'm surprised my laptop could handle it. I only have 6 GB of RAM. Man did I push my lappy! That'll do HP laptop, that'll do.

Back to School Truckin'

Posted in Labels: , , , , , , ,

Toyota Tacoma truck lighting assignment.
I know that somewhere the aliasing went bad... but it's okay, I'm fixing that next week!

It needs more work, but it's good for now! The model was supplied by Chris, while I worked on the lighting and texturing in Maya with compositing work in Photoshop. It's nice getting back into the fourth and final season of Otis! And... wait for it, more animation work coming next week! For now, take a curvy, wavy and beautiful graph editor snapshot from my scene file:

Have a great week guys!

New Demo Reel!

Check it out! I'm still waiting on one project to get sent to me, but I'll update it when that happens!

We're Back!

With that, here's a quick assignment from Chris' class:

Then here's a not so quick *cough render time* animation test for the scene above:

Other progress on our VFX project that I'm working on with Daniel and Jay.
Neon stag test!

Then the models I made. Jay's almost done rigging them too!

~
Then in this huge photo fest-- a few highlights of my 48 hour visit up to SF during Spring break!

^ Me and Jay @ ILM!

^ Craig joined us too!

^ I wanted to ALWAYS go to the
Suthro Baths since I was in Thailand!

^ Mark and Victor

^ Noms noms!

^ I was like a dog tied outside of a cafe--denied, as I watched master
Craig drive inside. I was staying less than a mile away.
So at night I pointed my head in Pixar's direction.

Hope everyone's week is going well! I'll post soon again!
